If sports ain’t your thing, then you’ve probably never set foot inside a sports bar. Because those things are only for die-hard basketball fans who scream at the TV right?! Wrong.
There’s actually a sports bar in Metro Manila that’s not exclusively for sports buffs! You can come pull up a chair even if you don’t have the slightest idea what free throws, jump shots, and technical fouls are.
Bugsy’s Sports Bar and Bistro has comfort food that everyone will want to dig into
Bugsy’s is the perfect place to hole up in if you want to catch a live game on TV with your fellow sports enthusiasts. Whatever it is you’re a fan of, whether it be basketball, UFC, boxing, or tennis, they definitely show it on their screens! But if you’re not into any of that, this sports bar’s laid-back vibe and delicious food make it a great hangout spot for just about anyone.
Named after the famous gangster Bugsy Siegel, Bugsy’s old school ambiance will have you feeling like you’re lounging in a mobster’s den. You won’t find any live bands causing a ruckus or DJs dropping beats here so you can do some catching up with your friends without having to shout. As for the menu, it’s full of familiar, unpretentious comfort food that everyone loves!
For starters, you can get a plate of Bugsy’s Nachos (₱345) for everyone around the table to share (it’s a huge serving so there’s enough to go around!) The nacho chips are topped off with chili beef, red beans, jalapeno, sour cream, onions, tomatoes, and cheese, making every bite a flavor-packed explosion.
Another finger food you can dig into are the Buffalo Tenders (₱265)–the dish that made Bugsy’s famous! An order of this will give you boneless chicken strips fried to perfect crisps, tossed in their secret buffalo sauce, and served with a blue cheese dip.
In his looloo review, Jayson J. said that this was a favorite among everyone around his table. “Love love love the mildly spiced covered chicken tenders. The blue cheese dip really really goes well with the tenders!”
For something heftier to move on to, the 3 Cheese Truffle and Bacon Pizza is a decision you won’t regret.
Smothered in homemade marinara sauce and loaded with cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, truffle essence, and bacon, this thing’s got everything you could ever want on a pizza! Dennis O. raved about this dish in his looloo review, saying: “Love the crisp pizza crust and the flavor was just perfect.”
If you need meat to complete your meal, there’s the Grilled Porkchops which gives you two pieces of tender, juicy, and perfectly marinated pork served with garlic rice and spicy soy vinegar sauce.
Another protein-packed dish you can sink your teeth into is the Bugsy Siegel, a USDA angus rib eye steak grilled the way you want it and served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and red wine sauce. It’s an inch thick and weighs at least 400g so you know you’re in for a filling treat — all for just about ₱1,000!
Chili G. loved the Bugsy Siegel so much that she called it the main star of her meal. She said in her looloo review: “Aptly named after a Vegas mobster, this one really packed a punch! I’m always wary of ordering steak outside of a steakhouse but this one was really good, trust me! They sliced it into cubes so we were almost like eating wagyu cubes.”
Of course, you can’t call it a real Bugsy’s experience if you don’t try their signature drinks! Their bestseller is the Burn Bugsy Burn and for a good reason. There are three steps you need to take to fully enjoy this shot–you inhale the fumes after it has been set on fire, you then suck up the drink through a straw, and you finish it off by shooting the leftover alcohol and cinnamon!
