8 New Cinema Houses In Metro Manila

1

Whether it’s an important part of your family or barkada’s monthly routine or you just happen to be a hardcore movie buff, cinemas are popular sources of entertainment here in Manila. It’s really no surprise that malls are taking their cinemas to a whole new level, which is always a plus for the audience! From 3D cinemas from back in the day, now we have 4DX cinemas, reclinable seats, and even a new cinema concept called Cafe Cinema!

Wanna know where you can find all these? Here are eight of the latest cinema houses you can find here in Metro Manila!

1. Ayala Malls The 30th Cinemas

Ortigas Center is one of the places here in Manila where there’s a lot of things to do and see. It definitely has no shortage of malls everyone can go to. But it definitely doesn’t hurt to add one more to the list, right?

Opened last January, Ayala Malls The 30th is the latest go-to place when in Pasig! Aside from a good number of shops and restaurants, Ayala Malls The 30th also has four cinemas. If you’re up for some added comfort to your movie watching experience, two of these cinemas have reclining seats!

“Loved the interiors and, most of all, the reclining seats!’ Jaymie P. says in her looloo review. “Because of the spacing per row, the theater didn’t feel so cramped. Certainly an experience to watch a movie here!”

Ayala Malls The 30th Cinemas are located at Ayala Malls The 30th, Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig.

2. Ayala Malls Vertis North

Whether you’re looking for a major mall or one that has all that you need minus the flood of people, Quezon City is another part of the metro that has its fair share of malls! One that opened this year is Ayala Malls Vertis North.

Called a “millennial mall”, Ayala Malls Vertis North features the country’s largest movie screen and even private skyboxes (you’ll find them in Cinema 2!). Two other theaters have fully reclining seats with tables that make it easier to eat while watching!

Ayala Malls Vertis North Cinemas are located at 4/F Ayala Vertis North, Mindanao Avenue corner North Avenue, Quezon City.

3. SM City East Ortigas Cinemas

Is it still in Pasig? Is it already part of Rizal? Or is one side in Rizal and the other in Pasig ‘cause it’s on the border? Whichever side you’re on, SM City East Ortigas is a welcomed addition to the area with all its dining, shopping, and entertainment options!

And speaking of entertainment, SM City East Ortigas isn’t just limited to your usual movie theaters. It also houses a Director’s Club Cinema complete with everything you need to add a flair of luxury to your experience: carpeted floors, automatic recliners, and food and drinks that can be brought straight to you thanks to your very own call buzzer!

SM City East Ortigas Cinemas are located at SM City East Ortigas, Ortigas Avenue Extension, Sta. Lucia, Pasig.

4. Cinema ‘76

If indie flicks and movies from years past are more of your thing, Cinema ‘76 is the place for you. Getting its name from the year 1976 (otherwise known as the Golden Year of Philippine Cinema), this micro-cinema (it can fit only 50-60 people at a time) ditches the usual movie theater set up for couches and pillows!

“What I like about this place though is that you can (still) catch whatever independent films you missed to watch during film fest seasons or during its theatrical release,” Mei O. says in her looloo review. “At PHP 150, you will get the feel of film screenings in your high school. The place is clean and air conditioned, so thank the stars that the flooring is not sticky.”

Cinema ’76 is located at 160 Luna Mencias St., Addition Hills, San Juan.

5. Uptown Cinemas

One can expect an upscale movie experience from Uptown Cinemas. Aside from two Dolby Atmos Cinemas, those who don’t mind splurging can go for the VIP Cinema! Housing only 83 reclining loveseats (each comes with a lamp, leg rest, and tray for your food), you also get unlimited popcorn and drinks!

Cette D. says in her looloo review that the VIP Cinema is “worth every cent you pay. Servers palang, winner na. Parang aattend ng starmagic ball. Hahaha!”

Uptown Cinemas are located at 4/F Uptown Place Mall, 36th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig

6. Director’s Club Cinema (S Maison at Conrad Manila)

You don’t have to be a guest at the hotel to enjoy all that S Maison at Conrad Manila has to offer. A short walk from Mall of Asia, you can surely find a restaurant or two that you won’t find anywhere else in the metro. Another thing that this upscale mall has to offer is a premium movie experience with its Director’s Club Cinema!

The Director’s Club Cinema can only accommodate 40 people per screening, making it the perfect option for those who hate crowded and noisy movie theaters. All seats are La-Z-Boys and you can adjust the leg rest, headrest, and lumbar settings to suit you preference. Talk about comfort!

Director’s Club is located at S Maison at Conrad Manila, Seaside Boulevard corner Coral Way, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay

7. UP Town Center Cinemas

Do you still remember the time when 3D movies were the coolest thing? Films have gone a long way since then and now there’s such a thing as a 4DX cinema! You can’t find it just anywhere so if you happen to be somewhere in the north and itching to try it out, head over to UP Town Center!

UP Town Center’s 4DX cinema has reclining seats that moves and tilts in time with whatever is happening on the silver screen, giving the audience a more realistic and fun-filled experience! The cinema also has some environmental effects so don’t be too surprised if you suddenly feel a splash of water or if you smell something different in your surroundings!

UP Town Center Cinemas are located at 3/F Phase 2, UP Town Center, Katipunan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City

8. SM Mall of Asia Cinemas 7 and 8

Have you ever heard of the term Cafe Cinema? If you haven’t, don’t worry because it’s something that’s pretty new here in the metro! There’s a chance you’ve already seen it, especially if you’ve seen the latest improvements and expansions over in Mall of Asia!

Mall of Asia’s Cinemas 7 and 8 are the mall’s latest, fully digitized additions to its cinemas. They’re also what is being called the Cafe Cinema. If you’re wondering what makes a Cafe Cinema different from your regular movie theaters, the Cafe Cinema has a spacious lounge area where moviegoers can relax and eat a meal before catching a flick!

Aside from the Cafe Cinema concept, Cinemas 7 and 8 each have 153 seats (some of them are stadium-type glide seats!) and are PWD-friendly!

SM Mall of Asia Cinemas 7 and 8 are located at 2/F, Entertainment Mall north side, SM Mall of Asia, J. W. Diokno Boulevard, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay
