We’ve heard all kinds of horror stories… A cockroach taking a hot, relaxing bath in the soup, a long strand of hair entangled in the pasta, or a rude waiter whose sole mission seems to be to ruin your day. These restaurant mishaps don’t stand a chance of going unnoticed because our nimble fingers are so quick to post and share them on social media!
But what about the stories of great service that give us warm, fuzzy feelings inside? Where do they go? They’re obviously not put out there enough so we’re sharing a bunch of anecdotes from looloo reviewers about unforgettably nice encounters they’ve had with restaurant service.

We’ve all ordered food that took forever to arrive, but some restaurants more than make up for it.
“It was an awkward moment looking at everyone eating and me just waiting for my food. A couple minutes later, they served me a cup of mushroom soup on the house! They also apologized for the long wait. That made me feel better. My Pork Loin arrived shortly after that but they also served me a big slice of dulce de leche cheesecake! For free! And another apology! The Pork Loin was delicious and so was the mushroom soup. But I loved the dulce de leche cheesecake the most. Dense, moist, and not overly sweet. Delicious!!! “When we asked for our bill at the end of our meal, we were so surprised and definitely delighted. The manager took it upon himself to make one out of the three meals we ordered a free one because he said our food arrived too late. We did not even notice that the food took too long. And before I could open my mouth to request for a small bowl, another service staff appeared out of nowhere to give me my request. Talk about reading customer’s minds! Most won’t care that you’ve got a movie to catch, but then there are those who WILL make sure you get to see the trailers.

We might get disappointed when we don’t get what we asked for, but there are those who go out of their way to make sure you feel better.
“We didn’t realize that we didn’t get the steak bacon and cheese (SBC) pie and that we got the spicy chili con carne pie instead so we called the attention of one of the servers. He apologized and said that the SBC wasn’t available and that he was going to give us the chicken and mushroom pie instead. I actually really wanted to try the SBC so I was a bit sad but the dude made up for it by giving us not 1 but 2 chicken and mushroom pies! “We left my daughter’s water bottle at Ramen Nagi Aura 2 weeks ago. Called them right away to ask about it and one of the staff confirmed we left it there. Took note of his name & the time of my call to be sure. But when we went back last week, Manager said nothing was endorsed to their lost & found section. I left the restaurant annoyed but she promised they will get back to me. A day after, she sent me a text message to say we may pick up the bottle. Taking our group pictures isn’t exactly part of their job description, but they try to be pro photogs anyway.

An unhappy toddler can be a handful but you know it’s great service when they help you out.
“Dined with my cranky toddler, and without having to ask, the service crew assisted me. Before I even requested, they thoughtfully offered a teaspoon for my toddler when they saw that the soup was for her (the large soup spoon was too big for her). When I requested for an extra bowl, preferably something plastic that was ok for my toddler to hold, they said they didn’t have any, but offered us the take out bowl. My baby got upset, threw a tantrum and chucked the paper bowl. The crew replaced the bowl right away, again without me having to ask. I love how they’re very attentive. Some servers are just extra warm, friendly, and talented at making us feel right at home.
“Excellent customer service! Our server, Glad, was super nice and very funny. All of them were very nice and they really make sure you feel comfortable and at home! Also, they know their menu very well! They’ll help you decide what to order if ever you’re having a hard time choosing. “When the clock hits 6PM, lights are dimmed and the place transforms into The Curator’s alter ego – a bar serving cocktails. Was actually curious of the cocktails they serve but there’s a next time for that. We stayed there until past 6PM but they didn’t hurry us to leave. They let us take our sweet time chit-chatting and taking snapshots of the pretty latte art they created as well as the Instagram worthy place. Myka and Yassi were so friendly that they took time to get to know us, asked for our names, checked if we needed anything, checked if we liked our coffee and food and even wrote everything we ordered in a piece of paper with details of the ingredients. “Just a shout out to this Starbucks branch (Nikki, Jane, Allan, and Rina) for great customer service. Excellent customer service may be harder to come by these days, but it’s not extinct. So when you do meet someone who goes above and beyond to make sure your dining experience is a great one, you need to let them know how much you appreciate them!
“I highly commend our server, Kim. I love her! I think she gave me like a quarter of a watermelon with the many times that she passed by if I wanted more fruit. I even asked if they had wooden chopsticks since apparently they already use plastic ones. She even went out of her way to check the depths of their office to look for one! Talk about great customer service! This visit just cemented Yabu to my best katsu place in the Metro. Because of Kim’s excellent service, I even left a tip which is double than my usual because I was so satisfied with her service. I seriously believe that people like her deserve to be given credit for striving to be the best at their jobs. I ended up looking for the manager on duty and told her that Kim was a very good server.
