The bad news is that you’re going to have to swear off carbs and sweets while you’re on this trendy diet. Consider pasta, pizza, cake, ice cream, and even fruits as mortal enemies. The good news? Fats are your new your best friend, meaning you get to eat a whole lot of meat, cheese, butter, and eggs!
To help you out on your keto journey, here’s a list of sinfully good but keto-friendly dishes you can order up in the metro. You won’t feel like you’re missing out because you get to feast on all the good stuff like bacon slabs, lechon, burrata, and sausages!

1. Burrata Caprese at PizzaExpress
ICYDK, there’s a new pizza place in the metro and it’s called PizzaExpress. While it may be unheard of in the Philippines, it’s been around since the 60’s and has 470 branches in London alone. With all that experience under their belt, you could definitely say they’re pizza experts. Ironically though, it’s not their pizza we’re going to be talking about today.
Since pizza’s off-limits to keto-ers, you can order up their Burrata Caprese instead, the soft and creamy blob of cheese served with red pepper, pesto Genovese, rocket, and pine nuts. In her looloo review, Midz S. raved about it, saying: “I loved the creaminess of this cheese, and the unexpectedly delicious taste when combined with all the other ingredients.”

2. DIY Deli Platter at En Tirage
One of the worst parts about being on a special diet is inconveniencing your squad. Finding a place to eat in is problematic enough but now they have to adjust to your needs too. Avoid the situation by suggesting a place like En Tirage where everyone will have something to enjoy. They have unlimited alcohol here as well as sorts of comfort food!
As for you, you can stay true to your keto diet by creating your own deli platter. You can enjoy an assortment of cold cuts and cheeses as your friends dig into their own orders. For cheese, they have manchego, gorgonzola, brie, and provolone to name a few, while their meat selection include coppa, mortadella, parma ham, and speck.

3. Lechon at Zubuchon
It’s undeniable that Cebu has the best lechon in the country but you don’t have to fly out anymore just to get some. That’s because Zubuchon, one of the most famous lechon restaurants in Cebu, now has two branches in Metro Manila! Anthony Bourdain himself said it was the best pig he’s ever tasted so you know it’s good stuff.
Whether you’re ordering the traditional or spicy Zubuchon, you’re going to love how the crispy skin shatters with every bite and how you don’t have to douse the meat in sauce anymore because it’s already packed with flavor. Just don’t make the mistake of eating your lechon with rice if you’re on the keto diet!

4. Sausages at Brotzeit
One of the best places in the metro to hit up for German beer is Brotzeit where you’ll find a fine selection of it on tap. While alcohol won’t totally destroy your keto diet, it will slow down the fat burning process so think twice before you chug. Luckily, they also have a ton of German sausages on the menu so keto-ers can still pull up a chair and enjoy.
For something with a kick, get yourself some Spicy Chicken Sausages. But if you’re after something cheesy, you can go for the Pork Cheese Sausages instead. If sausages aren’t enough to get you full, the Brotzeit Platter (comes with roasted pork knuckle, the bestselling sausages, and pork / chicken schnitzel) will do the trick!

5. Smoked Meat at Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse
As if they had foreseen the rise in popularity of the keto diet, Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse has created a menu that’s filled with meat, meat, and you guessed it—more meat. There’s something so primal about the way they make their smoked meat dishes, prompting the cavemen and cavewomen inside all of us to come out and feast.
Their Smoked Bacon Slab will give you a half-pound hunk of pork that’s glistening with bourbon glaze, while their Smoked Pork Ribs is a ten-hour slow-cooked masterpiece that offers no resistance to the bite. While most of their other entrees are keto-friendly, just be sure to stay away from their burgers and their sides!

6. Steak at Mamou
Mamou is best known for three things: their warm and delicious complimentary bread, their perfectly-cooked truffle pasta, and their award-winning Angus Ribeye USDA Prime Grade Steak. Unfortunately for those on the keto diet, you’re going to have to pass up on the first two. But as for the steak, go ahead and indulge!
The best way to botch up a steak is by overcooking it but you can expect them to cook yours exactly the way you want it. If you requested for medium rare, you’ll get your steak still pink in the middle, the meat tender and flavorful in every bite. It might take them twenty minutes to prepare your steak but the wait will be worth it!
