Come UAAP season every year, we don our school colors with pride, pinning all our hopes on student star athletes to bring glory to our respective universities. The Araneta Coliseum and MOA Arena come to life with resounding cheers from the rowdy crowd, punctuated by occasional jeers when the rivals score. And it’s not just the youngins who come to spectate, as loyal alumni get in on the action too.
You’d need luck on your side to get tickets to the live games though because lines tend to get crazy! Unless you’re willing to pay scalpers ridiculous amounts of money, the next best thing is to watch from the comforts of a sports bar. You’d still feel like you’re part of the ruckus, plus you get beer and pub grub!
So here’s a list of sports bars in the Metro (listed alphabetically) where you and your fellow fanatics can go to watch UAAP 78!
1. Buffalo Wild Wings
We’ve seen this new spot in Capitol Commons’ Estancia Mall slowly shape up to be a restaurant that churns up finger-licking buffalo wings, but we forget that it actually doubles up as a sports bar, too. Flat screen TVs are set up in every corner, making it effortless to take bites of your chicken while keeping your eyes fixed on the game. And with mugs of beer being served left and right, it wouldn’t be difficult to get comfortable during a big game here.
You can snack on shareable pika-pika food like their Jalapeño Pepper Bites and Ultimate Nachos while waiting for the game to start, and then proceed to heftier dishes like their Juicy Steak Burger and Mango Habanero Wings into which you can sink your teeth when things get heated up in the court.
Buffalo Wild Wings can be found at Estancia Mall, Meralco Ave., Capitol Commons, Pasig, Metro Manila.
2. Handlebar Manila
This bar in Makati was made specifically for the hardcore groups of bikers in Manila. It stays perpetually open for the avid fans of motorcycling, serving as a hideout for them to drink, watch races, and play billiards. Don’t be intimidated though, because fans of other sports are welcome also and can request for the live showings of the UAAP basketball games.
Being the manly grill that it is, it prides itself on its meat, cooking up dishes like porterhouse, sirloin, and tenderloin steaks, baby back ribs, and lamb loin cutlets. What a treat it would be to have meat juice dribbling down your chin while you stay engrossed in the game!
Handlebar Manila can be found at 31 Polaris St., Bel-Air, Makati, Metro Manila.
3. Heckle & Jeckle Sports Bar and Restaurant
H & J’s chill vibe has made it a favorite, around-the-clock hangout spot among the expats in the Metro. You’ll find diversity in the international crowd here, with variety in the type of sports they’re into. But come the UAAP season, college basketball takes over this pub’s televisions, as all eyes stay glued to them.
Their bar chow is a hearty mix of Western and Indian cuisine, with comforting items like breakfast food, steak, pizza, desserts, and their house specialty, the Chicken Tikka Masala. Happy hour here is at 2 to 10 PM so be sure to get your fill of local beer and mixed drinks while you keep up with the action.

It’s impossible to miss a shot from your favorite UAAP player at Howzat because this huge sports bar has TVs installed everywhere you look. Open 24 hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, it’ll be there for you when everyone else has beaten you to a seat at the stadiums.
Celebrate your wins with their bottled and draft beers; and when you’re faced with tragic losses, console yourself with their bestselling Butter Chicken Curry and Shrimp Curry dishes served with mango chutney, samosa, papadum, and naan bread.

Located in Makati’s central business district and far away from the distractions of the red light district, this would be the perfect spot to head to if you want to catch an important game after work. And with its laid-back, Irish-inspired interiors, it’ll help you unwind after a hard day.

6. Skinny Mike’s Sports Bar
Skinny Mike’s in Taguig is where the football fans of Manila come together to shout at the TV screens whenever a goal or a dirty foul comes into play. And on Tuesdays, it’s the place where the hungry go to for promotional 10-peso wings. But come the UAAP season, you’re going to be around fellow supporters who are equally as eager for a win.
With its twenty 42” LCD TVs, you get a perfect view of your team in action, all the while sipping on cold beer and munching on good grub. With over 100 variants of alcohol to choose from plus a wide menu of comfort food, you know it’s going to be a good time here win or lose.

7. Snaps Sports Bar
If the hard chairs and sticky floors at the stadiums aren’t your thing, then the polished and sophisticated interiors at Snaps’ might be. 8. Superstar Sports Grill and Bar
Strategically located on the ground floor of the MOA Arena, this bar exists for the purpose of saving those who have been left seatless outside the stadium. If the arena’s doors have been closed on you, don’t fret because at least you get to eat, drink, and be merry in here without missing any impressive 3-point shots.
The food here is influenced by international flavors so you get to feast on things like Korean galbi, Japanese yakiniku, American barbecue, and Persian kebab, all the while comfortable in its cozy ambiance.
