5 Dessert Cocktails In Metro Manila That Prove Sweets And Alcohol Are Perfect Together

Imagine this: you’ve just had a really yummy dinner with your barkada. Night’s still young and you all know that you still have room in your bellies for something else. So do you go for dessert or maybe a round (or two) of drinks?

Then again, you don’t even have to pick because you can always have both! Sure, you can have them separately but let’s put a fun twist on it. And we don’t mean those alcohol-spiked desserts. We’re talking about dessert cocktails!

Sugary, chocolatey, and everything in between, these bar concoctions will surely end your night on a sweeter note!

1. Bank Bar

Bank Bar is probably one of the most smartly hidden secret bars out there. To get to Bank Bar, you’re first going to have to look for the RCBC Savings Bank Corporate Center in BGC. Once you get there, enter 7-11 (yes, the convenience store) and look for a room that’s masquerading as a stock room. Go through that and voila! You found Bank Bar!

This bar isn’t easy to find so when you do, don’t miss out on the chance to try their dessert cocktail. Called the Wonka Martini, it will surely hit all the right spots for chocoholics and vodka lovers out there! This elegant cocktail is made up of wheat and rye vodka but it’s what you’ll find at the center that makes all the difference: creme de cacao salted Belgian chocolate!

Bank Bar can be found on the G/F of the RCBC Savings Bank Corporate Center, 25th Street corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

2. The Bowery

If American food is your kind of comfort food, The Bowery should be on your list of restaurants to eat in! Located in Forbeswood Heights, you’ll find all-time comfort food favorites like the Classic Mac and Cheese, Eggs Benedict, and Steak and Eggs!

And if you’re a fan of creme brulee, The Bowery has got you covered as well! Only this time, it won’t come the way you expect it. If you’re ready to drink your creme brulee instead of eating it, order some Creme Brulee shots!

These sinfully sweet shots are made up of Absolut Vanilla, custard, and vanilla bean syrup. It’s then topped off with some meringue and sprinkled with some sugar before the top is torched to give it the creme brulee’s signature caramelized finish!

Here’s a tip: come on a Wednesday because The Bowery has a buy one, take one promo for the Creme Brulee shots!

The Bowery can be found on the G/F of Forbeswood Heights, Rizal Drive corner 29th Street, Burgos Circle, Taguig.

3. DC Super Heroes Cafe

Stepping inside the DC Super Heroes Cafe is such a feast for the eyes, especially for any DC Comics fan. From the interiors to the concept and presentation of each dish, the superhero inspiration is unmistakable.

It might come as a surprise but the DC Super Heroes Cafe is one of the places in Megamall you can indulge in some cocktails. If it’s a dessert cocktail you’re searching for, go for the Roses & Thorns!

Rose-flavored food isn’t exactly common here in the metro but well, there’s always something exciting about trying something new! The pretty in pink cocktail is made up of milk, rose essence, cucumber, lime, rose-flavored tapioca, gin, and white rum.

Which DC Comics character do you think inspired this concoction?

DC Super Heroes Cafe can be found on the 4/F of the Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, EDSA corner Julia Vargas Avenue, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong.

4. Lo De Alberto

You’ve probably heard of or even tried a drink called Horchata. It’s a popular drink in Latin American countries made using rice milk, vanilla, and cinnamon. If this sounds like your kind of drink, why not head to Lo De Alberto to give it a try!

But wait, there’s more! Lo De Alberto doesn’t stop with just the traditional Horchata. If you want your drink with an additional alcoholic kick, order the El Hefe instead! It still follows the Horchata recipe but includes some vodka and Kahlua!

5. Rue Bourbon

If you’re not familiar with the Mardi Gras festival in New Orleans, it’s one big, fun, and colorful celebration filled with loud music, delicious food, and of course, a lot of booze. It’s the main inspiration behind Rue Bourbon, one of the metro’s hippest restaurant and bar chains that began in 2009. Rue Bourbon is best known for its Caramel Beer but it’s also home to one over-the-top and definitely IG-worthy dessert cocktail. Ready to find out what it is?

Called The Unicorn, this dessert cocktail is a blast of both color and flavor. One look at the whipped cream and candies on top and you’ll automatically know that you’re bound to get some sugar rush. One sip, however, will tell you that it’s not all you get.

To give you an idea of what goes in The Unicorn, white rum, vodka, gin, and blue curacao comprise its alcohol base. Mix all of that with some fruity flavors (you gotta try it to know what they are!) and there you have it!

Can’t wait to try it? Then head to your nearest Rue Bourbon asap!
