5 Harry Potter Things You Can Do In Metro Manila In Time For Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner and though it’s mostly a time for kids to go on a sugar rush and candy collecting frenzy, who says the kids-at-heart can’t have fun too?

If you’re at a complete lost as to how you can enjoy Halloween this year, let’s find some inspiration from one of the most popular film series ever: Harry Potter! For this rundown, we list the different Harry Potter-inspired things you can do as October 31 draws closer!

And as a bonus, we even included one that’s inspired by an important Hogwarts event that takes places during the Christmas season! It might be two months away but you need to RSVP for it very soon! Can you guess what it is?

1. Dress up in your best Harry Potter-inspired outfit

Whether you have a costume party to attend or you simply want to look the part, dressing up as one of your favorite Harry Potter characters is surely a fun thing to do this Halloween! Those with the time, resources, and crafts and sewing skills will probably prefer to make a do-it-yourself costume.

But if you’re not one of those, you can head to online shopping sites like Lazada to kickstart your costume planning! You can also check out Facebook shops like the Seven Potters Online Shop, where you can find all the things you need to complete your Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw uniform!

2. Drink a mug (or more) of butterbeer

Described as a drink that tastes like butterscotch and only slightly alcoholic, butterbeer is, without a doubt, one of the most iconic food and drinks to ever appear on Harry Potter. It’s no surprise then that it became a trend even here in Manila when cafes and bars began to offer their take of this delicious drink to customers.

One of the places where you can order your own mug of butterbeer is at the Harry Potter-inspired The Nook Cafe. “At last, an authentic-looking butterbeer!” says Nievs G. in her looloo review. “As for the taste, it was actually good. It was sweet but not too cloying as I originally had thought. It had some effervescence to it.”

The Nook Cafe can be found at 164-A Maginhawa Street, Quezon City.

3. Spend a night or two in your own room at Hogwarts

Anyone who has ever watched or read Harry Potter has wondered about how it’s like to be a student at Hogwarts. Chances are you’ve even registered every email account you have to Pottermore just to see what House you belong to and what wand you’ll get each time!

Well, now you don’t have wonder what it’s like to live in the dormitories of Hogwarts because there’s an Airbnb in Tagaytay designed to look just like one! The different areas of the Airbnb are inspired by various locations in Harry Potter such as The Burrow and the Three Broomsticks Inn. The bedroom, however, is completely Gryffindor-themed. We hope this doesn’t irk the diehard Slytherins, Hufflepuffs, or Ravenclaws out there!

To reserve this magical room straight out of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, simply head to its Airbnb page!

4. Get the magical stone before You-Know-How does

Escape rooms have become a popular activity among friends and families during the Halloween season thanks to the horror-themed rooms available. But if you’re one of the faint-hearted people who easily jumps out of their skin when surprised and frightened, there are rooms that aren’t freaky at all!

Escape Room Manila offers a Harry Potter-themed room called School of Wizardry. Inspired by the first book, your group’s job is to find a Magical Stone hidden in Hogwarts after a friend of yours named R.W. (gee, we wonder who it is) goes missing. You have only 45 minutes to find the stone and find the missing friend. Fail and You-Know-Who wins. Are you ready to take on the challenge?

Escape Room Manila can be found on 5/F of the HPGV Building, 395 Sen. Gil Puyat Ave., Makati.

5. Eat in a Gryffindor-themed restaurant

Not sure about your lunch or dinner plans for Halloween yet? Then why not give The Witches Brew Diners a try! While the interiors of the Lakefront Boardwalk branch in Muntinlupa are inspired by both Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, the BF Homes branch is completely Gryffindor-inspired!

The inspiration isn’t just limited to the decor though! Even the dishes on the menu are named after Harry Potter characters! Try the Harry Patty, which is The Witches Brew Diners’ take on the classic cheeseburger, the Severus Steak, or the Madam Hooche, a spin on the French croque madame.

The Witches Brew Diners can be found at these locations.

BONUS: RSVP for the Yule Ball

The Yule Ball is undoubtedly one of the highlights of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and you have to admit, you probably fantasized about attending the ball yourself. This December, you’re about to get the next best thing with Plato PH’s unique, magical dining experience, the Yule Ball!

It may still be two months away but registration is required so don’t forget to head to Plato PH’s Facebook page to secure your invites!
