Edible Valentine’s Day Gifts For Your Foodie SO

If you’re in a relationship, then the time has come for you to once again rack your brains for a gift to give your significant other. And this time, you’re not going to make the same mistake of handing them a generic Valentine’s Day card from the grocery store. Don’t think about wilting flowers or boxed chocolates either!

If you’re SO loves to eat (why are you even with them if they don’t), why not surprise them with something their taste buds will really appreciate? To help you out, we’re hooking you up with a few edible recommendations! They’re all packaged nicely, easy to transport, and most importantly, delicious. You can thank us later!

1. Bacon Roses and Chocolate-Dipped Bacon Roses from Lazy Bastard

Roses sure are beautiful…when they’re alive. This year, spare your SO the trouble of having to deal with dead flowers in her bedroom by giving her a different kind of bouquet. The kind that she can stuff her face with!

Lazy Bastard puts bacon in practically everything they make, but for Valentine’s Day, they’re turning them into roses! You can get a bouquet of a dozen Bacon Roses for ₱2,200 and half a dozen for ₱1,500. If you prefer something that’ll be a little easier to carry around, they will also be selling Chocolate-Dipped Bacon Roses in boxes for ₱1,200. Send them a message on FB to place an order!

Lazy Bastard can be found at these locations.

2. Cheese Tarts from BAKE

Cheese Tarts are everywhere but if you really love your SO, you’ll give them the best one. And for a lot of looloo reviewers, BAKE cheese tarts (₱95 each) are a cut above the rest! One bite and your SO is guaranteed to love you forever.

The crust crumbles like a butter cookie in the mouth while the cheese mousse in the middle is airy yet rich at the same time. Aside from being absolutely to-die-for, they also come in the most ~aesthetic~ packaging you’ll ever see! The bright yellow boxes are layered (the bottom layer pulls out like a drawer) and compartmentalized so that each cheese tart is well-protected while they’re in transit.

BAKE can be found at these locations.

3. Letter Doughnuts from Cello’s Doughnuts

A heartfelt message is a great Valentine’s Day gift but instead of typing it up, take it one step further by spelling it out with delicious doughnuts! Whatever it is you want to say, Cello’s has all the letters to make it happen.

Small doughnut letters are ₱35 each while big characters are priced at ₱50. You can also include a star or a heart doughnut in your message for ₱45. The best part is you can have every doughnut in a different flavor! You can choose from Cheese, Chocolate, Cinnamon Crunch, Honey Glazed, and White Chocolate just to name a few. You can visit their website and customize your order!

Cello’s can be found at 315 Katipunan Ave., Katipunan, Quezon City, Metro Manila.

4. Macarons from Laduree

While whisking your SO off to France for Valentine’s Day will earn you major points, it’s not exactly an option when you’re broke. Instead, you can bring a little bit of France to them. Just buy a box of macarons from Laduree!

Crowned the winner of looloo’s Macaron Blind Taste Test, these macarons will not disappoint. Not only do they look incredibly well-made, but they’re such a delicious treat too! The outer shell crackles like a cracker when you bite into it, while the filling is soft and chewy. You can get them in flavors like Chocolate, Coffee, Pecan Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Lemon, and Coconut for ₱150 each.

Laduree can be found on the G/F of 8 Rockwell Drive, Rockwell Center, Makati, Metro Manila.

5. Paos-to-Go from Chowking

Valentine’s Day gifts don’t always have to be grand. If you want to keep things casual, buy a box of siopao from Chowking and eat it with your SO for merienda! It’s a simple gesture but it’ll be a cute memory to look back on.

Chowking’s Asado Siopao

In case you didn’t know, Chowking’s siopao (₱120 for a box of three) was actually the winner of the looloo Siopao Blind Taste test! The looloo crew loved it for its pillowy-soft bun and generous amount of flavorful asado filling, so you know it’s not going to be dyahe to give it as a gift. It’s a bonus too that Chowking packs their siopao in a very presentable box when you order them for takeout or have them delivered.

6. Pork Buns from Tim Ho Wan

While everyone else will be exchanging chocolate and candy for Valentine’s Day, why don’t you mix things up and be the unpredictable one? Instead of something sweet, give your SO something tender, juicy, and savory!

Tim Ho Wan’s unrivaled Pork Buns (₱145 for 3 pieces) may not be considered a romantic gift but trust us when we say your SO will love you for it. The bun itself is so incredibly soft it almost melts in the mouth, while the pork barbecue on the inside is saucy, slightly sweet, and just downright heavenly. Plus, they come in a nice looking box when you order them for takeout, making them the perfect present.
