6 New Bars To Hit Up The Next Time You Go Bar Hopping In Metro Manila

When you don’t want a great night to end, one of the best ways to keep the good times rolling is to go bar hopping. Boredom will have zero chances of creeping in because every bar is a new experience!

You get to meet different people, try different drinks, and listen to different kinds of music. The fun only really ends when that one person in the barkada passes out from too much alcohol and ya’ll have to drag him out of the bar (womp womp).

So if you’re down for a good time this Friday, here are six new bars in the metro you can include in your bar hopping escapade! There’s one in Makati with massive aquariums of jellyfish, another in Mandaluyong that’s decked out in blacklights, and another in Taguig that doubles up as an arcade.

1. Antidote Bar

When you need a remedy for stress, look no further than Antidote Bar. Their interior design is stunning, plus they have a killer 360-degree view of the city. Not to mention they have massive aquariums of jellyfish that are hypnotic to look at! A hangout sesh here with your friends is guaranteed to help you forget about your woes, even if it’s just for the night.

As for drinks, it was the chief bartender of world-renowned Bar Mace who came up with the lineup so you know you’re in for a great time. In her looloo review, Marjorie G. recommends the Leek’n Good or the Ananas in Pandanus if you’re into strong drinks. But if you want something that’s more palatable, order up the Tokyo Sojourn.

Antidote Bar can be found at I’M Hotel, 7862 Makati Ave. cor. Kalayaan Ave., Makati.

2. Fyre Rooftop Lounge

If you’re a fan of Locavore, then Fyre Rooftop Lounge is a must-try. Created by the former’s very own Chef Kel Zaguirre, you can expect the food here to be just as delicious and well thought out! Plus points too that you get to choose from a wide selection of drinks and enjoy a great view of the hustle and bustle of Makati’s streets.

Food-wise, one of the best things you can order from the menu is the Fyre Cheeseburger, a simple but hearty meal that will go great with your beer. You also can’t go wrong with other crowd favorites like the Super Hainanese Chicken or the Sisig. Drinks-wise, you can’t call it a night without have a bottle (or five) of their beer cocktails.

Fyre Rooftop Lounge can be found at 5060 P. Burgos St. cor. Guerrero St., Poblacion, Makati, Metro Manila.

3. The Coconut Club

BGC may be all about the grind and the hustle but here’s one place in this central business district where you can feel like you’re kicking it back at the beach. Inside The Coconut Club, a tropical-inspired bar, you’ll find vibrant splashes of color, a nipa hut DJ booth, and even a (faux) palm tree! It’s definitely a godsend for the tired and overworked zombies of the area.

If you have a big thirst to quench, you need not worry because there’s something for you to sip on no matter what kind of drinker you are. They have cocktails, slushies, coconut pitchers, as well as hard drinks. They can even customize your drink for you if you’re not into alcohol! The best part: they keep their prices fairly affordable.

The Coconut Club can be found on the G/F of Bonifacio High Street Central.

4. The Island

The Island is another new concept in BGC that’ll make you forget you’re just minutes away from your office. Inspired by the chill vibes of summer, you’ll find neon lights, vivid colors, and lots of greenery here. Another cool thing about it is it’s made up different stalls, each one offering something unique. You can think of it as a bar that doubles up as a food park!

One of the stalls you can try out here is Coco Loco, offering up refreshing, beachy drinks like Frozen Sangria and mojito. But if you’re more in the mood for ice-cold bottles of beer, then head to Super Papaya and start guzzling. As for those who prefer shots, make your way to Hops and Shots and down creations like Cocomangas and Lemon Drop shots.

The Island can be found at The Palace, 9th Ave. cor. 36th St., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila.

5. Panic Room

There are two things you need to know about Panic Room. Firstly, it’s a bar within a bar. In his looloo review, Eboy D. said that it’s so hidden that even the guards of Starmall don’t know it exists. Secondly, it’s actually the very first blacklight-themed bar in the metro. It’s a speakeasy bar during the day but at night, the lights turn on and it transforms into a dance club!

If you’re coming on an empty stomach, that’s okay because they’ve got plenty of bar chow like Chicharon Flowers, Spam Cubes, Sizzling Sisig, and Chicken Fingers to keep you full as the night progresses. Of course, it’s not the full experience without getting a taste of their fun ‘potions’ like the Mojito Pitcher or the Guyabano Mint Forest!

Panic Room can be found on the 2/F Starmall EDSA, EDSA cor. Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong, Metro Manila.

6. Versus Barcade

At Versus Barcade, expect to get hit with a ton of 90’s nostalgia. Doubling up as an arcade, you’ll find all your favorite childhood games here like Pac-Man, Street Fighter, Mario Kart, and Battle City. The best part is you don’t have to pay an additional fee to play any of them. Just order from the menu and you’re all set to play the entire night!

As for their drinks, they’re just as fun as their games! There’s the Yo Mas Lab, a concoction of white rum, butterscotch liqueur, and homemade apple pie syrup. Or you could go for the Killer Instinct, made with Bacardi Ocho, fresh lime, and spicy mango syrup. They also have fun drinking challenges that’ll make you realize you’re not as “high tol” as you thought you were.

Versus Barcade can be found on the G/F of Uptown Parade, 9th Ave. cor. 38th St., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Metro Manila.
