10. Solaire Resort and Casino

When Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto (aka one of the APEC 2015 Hotties) came to Manila, Solaire Resort and Casino served as his home away from home. Which makes perfect sense because this 8.3-hectare property is owned by the Spanish-speaking Enrique Razon, Chairman and CEO of the country’s biggest port-handling company.

Solaire’s room accommodations are housed in two prominent towers, both of which loom over the city. This gives guests a spectacular view of the Manila Bay come sunset! But what people really come here for is the sprawling 18,500-square meter, two-storey casino filled  with slot machines and tables games!

9. The Peninsula Manila

For those of you who stalked Canadian President Justin Trudeau (aka the other APEC 2015 Hottie) when he was in the country, you would know that he was billeted at The Peninsula Manila. Known as the “Jewel of the Capital’s Crown,” this luxurious 5-star hotel was the perfect place to host the dashing leader.

The “Manila Pen” was truly made to impress, built in 1976 just in time to wow the delegates of the IMF world conference. But even without having to book a lavish room, the lobby in itself is awe-inspiring enough. It’s the hotel’s most iconic area, well-known for its high ceilings, elegant balustrade, and impeccable food!

8. Nobu Hotel Manila

Japanese Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Academy Award-winning actor Robert de Niro, and Hollywood producer Meir Teper are the business partners who brought the very first Nobu Hotel to Asia. And it just so happened to be inside City of Dreams Manila! Their official opening in the country is set to be followed by a series of other openings around the globe.

The 321 accommodations at the hotel are inspired by the Nobu restaurants owned by the eponymous chef. The Japan-themed rooms sport calligraphy art on the walls, low ceilings, and very technologically advanced toilets! 7. Crown Towers Manila

When Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev attended APEC 2015 as stand in for President Vladimir Putin, he chose Crown Towers Manila as the entire Russian delegate’s fortress. And it’s not hard to see why because it’s the most luxurious of the three properties in City of Dreams Manila!

This award-winning, six-star hotel boasts of two towers–the Resort Tower and the Tower Suites. The latter has 174 room accommodations while the former has 80 (each one with a personalized butler!) A major perk of being checked in at Crown Towers is having pool-hopping privileges. You get to swim in the hotel’s pool plus the other two pools in the area!

6. Makati Shangri-La Hotel

Makati Shangri-La was the busiest of the hotels during APEC 2015. Chosen as the venue for the three-day summit, the Presidents delivered their key-note speeches here while the press watched on from the media room. Just imagine how tight security had to be! The hotel was on total lockdown during the arrival and departure of the 800 leaders.

But on any other given day, Makati Shangri-La is a haven for anyone who wants to be treated like royalty. Aside from their luxurious rooms, you can have a feast in their award-winning restaurants and bars. They’ve got Circles if you’re into buffets, Inagiku for fresh Japanese fare, Shang Palace for Cantonese food, and Sage Bespoke Grill for steaks!

5. Marco Polo Ortigas Manila

Out of all the properties owned by Marco Polo Hotels Group, this is the first one to be built in Manila. And its location couldn’t be more perfect, standing tall right in the hustle and bustle of Ortigas Center. The movers and shakers of the area can’t help but be drawn to its impressive height, sleek interior, and world-class service.

Marco Polo Ortigas is also the first sky hotel in town. On the 44th floor of this towering structure, you’ll find Lung Hin, a Chinese restaurant where you get to indulge in exquisite dishes (like steamed Shrimp Dumpling with Gold Leaf and Steamed Pork Siomai with Truffle Sauce) while surrounded by a 360 view of the city!

4. EDSA Shangri-La Manila

Opened in 1992, it’s the oldest of all the Shangri-la hotels in the country. But it’s still one of the most popular places to go to for business meetings, debuts, and staycations because you’re guaranteed a great time away from the stresses of life. It’s a bonus too that it’s conveniently located at a premier spot in Ortigas where shopping malls are just a hop and a skip away!

Aside from getting to sample the lavish life here, you’re treated to the finest food in the Metro. At HEAT, they have an Asian and continental buffet spread every day as well as the Mad for Wagyu dinner buffet every Saturday. Other restaurants include Paparazzi where everything is authentically Italian and Senju where Japanese dishes look like art masterpieces.

2. Azumi Boutique Hotel

The most affordable of all the hotels in this list, Azumi proves that you don’t need to be a ballin’ celebrity to enjoy the life of an A-lister. Feeling a little bit more posh isn’t something you can help in this charming and stylish hotel in Alabang! But at the same time, you’re not too far away from the familiar things. Molito and Alabang Town Center are definitely walkable from here.

Their rooms are painted in earth colors with pops of orange making it really easy for us to feel at home. But make sure you get out of your room too and visit the top floor. There you’ll find a saltwater infinity pool which gives you an unobstructed view of the Alabang skyline! Try coming here at night to see the pool light up with colors!

1. Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila

When THE Barack Obama comes to your country, you make sure he stays in the best hotel you’ve got! And in 2015, Sofitel was at the front of the pack. It was the best choice for the US President not just because of the hotel’s consistent excellent service but it’s also the most secure. Plus, it’s just a little ways from the US Embassy. Fun fact: he stayed here too for his state visit in 2014!

If you want to live it up ala Barack Obama, book an Imperial Residence Suite at Sofitel. You get your own fully-equipped kitchen, a formal dining room, and a sprawling living room area that overlooks the Manila Bay! You also shouldn’t forget to book a table at Spiral’s and indulge in its world-class buffet spread!
